In the small wild patch I had in my garden (this feels like a slight joke as my new garden was large and wholly wild, this bit though I had intentionally left the weeds to run rampant) last year this plant was growing. It came out of nowhere with these soft grey-green leaves but no flowers. Like many of the plants that have popped up in my garden I wasn't sure if it was an intentional plant or weed. It started growing even more this spring though and my trusty app (picture this) told me it might be a Great Mullein. Which is a biennial which explained the lack of flowers last year. So when I weeded and planted herbs in the once intentionally wild corner, I ensured I left this beauty in. It started growing this flower head which lots of bugs seemed to be hiding out in. Not sure what these creatures are but it is nice to see signs of life. I am pretty confident that this little fella is a common green shieldbug . I am happy he stopped by.
